RELLIK | Tribal Indian Dhokra - Horse
Lost Wax Hinged Horse Box
The horse is a revered creature in Indian mythology and symbolism. The intricate details and fine craftsmanship bring the animals to life, capturing their majestic beauty and grace. The Betel box, a traditional container for storing betel leaves and other items, adds a functional element to the piece.
Dhokra is a beautiful, ancient craft and amongst the oldest traditional techniques of bronze and copper-based alloy casting, in India, practised for over 4,000 years. The lost wax technique, ‘ciré perdue’ in French, is the medium of metalworkers in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, and West Bengal. This craft dates back to the pre-historic times of the Harappa and Mohenjo-daro Civilizations.
